La Olmeda

La Olmeda is an ancient Roman villa situated in the north of Spain, in the region of Castilla y Leon. Located along the river Carrión, its mosaics are the best preserved of Europe. The deposit was discovered in 1968, being declared by National Geographic as one of the 10 best archeological sites in the world. Its origins are a farm founded by the Romans in the first century and was abandoned in the sixth century.
